Not storing your toothbrush in a closed container

The growth of bacteria is also determined by moisture and putting your toothbrush in a closed container is not actually good as it invites moisture in it causing bacteria growth. Use a toothbrush protector for your toothbrush and make sure it is also dry when you store it in a container.

Storing your toothbrush in an upright manner

By storing your toothbrush in an upright position, you are allowing the water to drain. If you put the head of the toothbrush inside the container that looks like a cup, you are allowing the water to be stored in there and the moisture will invite bacterial growth.

Storing your toothbrush at least 3 feet away from toilet bowl

You may not realize this, but whenever you flush, tiny water particles fly out the toilet bowl and these contain either urine or some fecal matter that might land on the bristles of your toothbrush. Although there is not much evidence that these bacteria can cause illnesses, just follow this tip. Remember, prevention is always than cure.

Cleaning your toothbrush holder at least once a week

If your toothbrush container has its bottom, you should clean it once a week. Containers hold dirt and excess water from your toothbrush since there is no way out for these dirt and water to be drained. With the right amount of water and dirt, bacteria may transfer from these substances up to your toothbrush so it’s fairly necessary to clean the container like how you clean your toothbrush. You can use soap and water to clean the container and please, if you can, DO NOT put your toothbrush in the dishwasher.

Keeping your toothbrush clean makes not only your dental hygiene clean but also keeps a part of your house clean. Maintain these every day for a healthier and a better you.
